Tom O’Brien, Managing Director

Tom is Managing Director of Nephin Energy. He has over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry including over 10 years in the Projects & Energy Department of one of Ireland’s leading law firms, focusing on renewable energy, (inc. Ireland’s first on and offshore windfarms) large scale real estate and infrastructure projects. Since then Tom has held senior executive roles at a number of Irish companies, including two Irish Plc’s. Tom’s prior experience includes working at C-Suite level at Providence Resources plc, Ireland’s most active oil and gas exploration company and Malin Corporation plc a global life sciences investment company, where he worked on the investment management side of the business including sitting on the board of investee companies for Malin. 

Tom was senior adviser and project lead in Ireland for CPPIB's $1.23 billion acquisition of Shell's interest in the Corrib Gas Field. He was subsequently asked by CPPIB to build out and lead the company that would eventually own CPPIB's interest in the field, Nephin Energy. Nephin Energy is now Ireland’s largest domestic producer of natural gas. Tom has mentored on the Irish Stock Exchange's #IPOready leadership programme which is designed to help ambitious Irish companies prepare for different types of strategic funding options, including going public. Tom is a regular contributor to energy policy debate in Ireland. He holds an LLB from University College Cork, an LLM from University College London and a Diploma in Finance from University College Dublin.

Kate MacGinley, Finance Director

Kate joined Nephin Energy as Finance Director in August ‘18 having been Acting Finance Director since January ‘18. Kate previously worked in PwC Deals Advisory where she managed large/complex M&A transactions for Irish and international clients across a range of industries. Prior to PwC, Kate worked with KPMG Advisory where she was a senior member of the Financial Management team responsible for financial operations set-up and improvements. Kate also held Financial Controller and Finance Manager roles in Bank of Ireland where she qualified as an accountant (FCCA). Kate holds a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies from University College Dublin and a Masters in Marketing from the Smurfit Business School.

Peter Colleran, Technical Director

Peter is Technical Director of Nephin Energy. He has over 33 years’ experience as an E&P development manager with Shell. A reservoir engineer and petroleum engineer by training he has a strong technical background in the areas of E&P including subsurface, drilling, operations, logistics, FEED, HSE, risk management, major contract tendering and corporate reporting. Peter has held senior technical roles in field development planning, asset rejuvenation, JV management and regulatory compliance via positions held in the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey, Thailand, Sakhalin, Australia and Ireland. Peter is well acquainted with the Corrib Gas Field as he worked in Shell Exploration & Production Ireland Limited as Venture Integration and Strategy Manager between 2009 and 2015 reporting to the Managing Director. Peter holds a BSc and MSc in Physics from NUIG.

Helen Edwards, Marketing Director

With over 30 years’ experience in the energy sector, Helen is considered one of the foremost experts on gas purchasing, supply, shipping and regulation in the UK gas and power markets. Helen has held a variety of senior roles at British Gas Plc and Northern Electric and has been at the forefront of the UK Gas Market for many years. Helen led Tullow Oil’s gas marketing, trading and daily balancing services for more than 10 years. Helen has previously worked with Teesside Power Limited, Viridian Energy and Roc Oil, among others. Helen has provided shipping and other commercial services to UK and Irish gas shippers, including Air Liquide, Advanced Plasma Power, BayWar.e. and PSE Kinsale. Helen has also been a director and owner of a number of companies that have a stronghold in the UK and Irish Gas Markets.

Nicholas Lincoln, Commercial and Trading Officer

Nicholas is the Commercial and Trading Officer of Nephin Energy. Nicholas previously spent 3.5 years with PwC as a management consultant working with leading financial services firms across banking and asset management. Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Business and Law from University College Dublin and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Aisling Doyle, Finance Manager

Aisling is a Finance Manager at Nephin Energy. Aisling previously worked in KPMG where she gained over 5 years’ experience providing audit and advisory services to both public and private companies in a variety of industries. Aisling holds a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies from University College Dublin, a Masters in Accounting from the Smurfit Business School and a Diploma in Corporate Finance from Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Lisa Mongey, Finance Manager

Lisa is a Finance Manager at Nephin Energy. Prior to joining Nephin, Lisa worked at ICON plc. as a Finance Manager in their Corporate Reporting team and was responsible for the Group’s internal and external reporting. Prior to this, Lisa worked at Deloitte Dublin, in the Consumer Technology Business department, where she gained 5 years’ experience providing audit and advisory services to a wide range of public and private businesses. Lisa has a Bachelor of Business & Economics from Trinity College Dublin.
